Join the RM Roadmap co-creation sessions today
We are very pleased to announce the opening of the RM Roadmap Knowledge and Community Platform. The co-creation process will see research managers from 40 nations across Europe discussing the current research management landscapes in their countries. The European Commission (EC) and countries across Europe want to better understand the current research management ecosystem and the RM Roadmap project consortium needs your support to ensure that the voices of research managers (RMs) are heard at the highest levels. Exploring the future of RMA and AI with EARMA
EARMA AI Day is coming. Join us in this one-day event specifically designed to provide members of the EARMA community with valuable insights into the world of AI in RMA. Our goal is to provide you with the skills and understanding required to give your best information in your field. EARMA participated in the ENRIO Congress
EARMA participated in the ENRIO 2023 Congress, which took place on September 7 and 8 in Paris at the campus of Sorbonne University. ENRIO is the European Network of Research Integrity Offices and is an active partner for EARMA’s Ethics and Research Integrity Officer Network (ERION). With more than 300 participants from all over Europe, the Congress was an excellent opportunity to strengthen existing and create new ties between the wider research integrity community and EARMA. Our Association presented one of the ongoing EU funded projects related to topics of research ethics and integrity - PATTERN during a pre-Congress session on September 6. During the Congress, the work of ERION was presented and discussed. Overall, the ENRIO 2023 Congress was a great opportunity to disseminate insights and share best practices from past projects and initiatives of ERION, such as SOPs4RI, as well as to create awareness for new ones, such as PATTERN.
12th Meeting of the EARMA Ethics and Research Integrity Officer Network (ERION)
The 12th meeting of the ERION group will take place in Brussels, Belgium, November 21, 2023. ERION is the Ethics and Research Integrity Officer Network within EARMA. It is an open community to discuss the practical and implementation side of Research Ethics and Integrity. All of those that need to ensure compliance, efficiency, functionality, fairness, and robustness in the practices and processes in their organisation are welcome to join this community. People may have titles such as ethics/integrity officer, administrator, and many others. You can already sign up to attend on our website, where the programme for this event will be published soon. Please note that this meeting is being held in conjunction with the first Open Science EARMA thematic group meeting as detailed below and discounts in fees are available. Register.
First Open Science EARMA thematic group meeting
We are pleased to invite you to the inaugural meeting of the EARMA Open Science thematic group with a view to explore the interactions and synergies between Open Science, in particular data management and ethics. The event will take place over two half days in conjunction with the 12th meeting of the ERION group. This will be of interest to colleagues considering data management plans and ethics from a practical implementation perspective. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to join our team as a Financial/Administrative intern to become part of a small office in Brussels/Leuven (Belgium). The main task of this internship is to assist the Financial and Administrative Manager in providing administration support to all areas of EARMA’s activities. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who would like to join us as our Customer Care & Conference Management intern from mid-January - the end of June 2024. You will become part of a 5-member events team based in Brussels (Belgium). Since you will occasionally be working from home, you must have a space where you can work professionally with minimal noise interference and a stable internet connection. EARMA Leadership Event 2023
Managers and leaders overseeing research, grants, or sponsored programs within research organisations are welcome to participate in the EARMA Leadership Event 2023. The role of leading a research support office or fostering excellent research support for exceptional researchers is both inspiring and demanding. However, as a manager, you face day-to-day challenges, dilemmas, and strategic considerations that require action by you and your team. Balancing the expectations of rectors, faculties, individual researchers, funders, and authorities is essential. Learn how to develop a Research Integrity Promotion Plan
This webinar will focus on Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines that Research Performing Organisations can use to develop their own Research Integrity Promotion Plans (the SOPs4RI tool). We will have the attendance of a representative from the European Commission who will explain the importance and obligations of implementing a Research Integrity Promotion Plan (RRIP). Furthermore, our experts will provide a step-by-step guide on how to navigate the SOPs4RI website and offer valuable guidance on how to use this tool effectively. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to gain insights from practical implementation experiences using the SOPs4RI material. The overheads conundrum: Can a Research Support Office be self-sustained?
Overhead costs are often the source of a tug-of-war between research support offices and principal investigators. Institutional policies are put in place to regulate the use of these funds. Yet there seems to be no right or good models that prevail. Therefore, discussions are ongoing and, at times, inconclusive. This session is being presented by members of EARMA’s Finance and Governance Committee as part of EARMA’s initiative to bring its committees closer to the RMA community. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact and familiarise themselves with the Committee’s members while also engaging in a very common discussion among RMAs in their day-to-day work.
