Welcome to the latest edition of the EARMA newsletter. In this month's publication we are taking a brief preview of highlights of the upcoming EARMA Conference, taking place in the idyllic Odense. More than 1,400 research managers and administrators and research and innovation ecosystem stakeholders will gather in Denmark for EARMA's most cutting-edge conference programme ever as we explore ‘Where is RMA Going? The Future of RMA in a Rapidly Changing World’.

In other news, we're looking for volunteers to join EARMA's Standing Committees, the 13th gathering of the ERION group will take place in Brussels, and the BESTPRAC and Post-Award Project Management thematic groups are seeking core group members.

EARMA reserves the right to charge the full fees of the conference or workshops to yourself/your institution in the case of no confirmation or a no show. Cancellations work in accordance with EARMA's cancellation policy.

EARMA Conference poster exhibition
Research management colleagues will be sharing their insights at the EARMA Conference poster competition. This esteemed part of the annual conference offers an unparalleled opportunity for research managers and administrators to present their work to a diverse audience of peers, experts, and industry leaders. Participation in the competition provides a platform for research managers to highlight their innovative projects, cutting-edge methodologies, and impactful outcomes. Whether you're a seasoned RM or an early-stage administrator, the poster competition invites individuals from all backgrounds and disciplines to share their insights, spark discussions, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge within the research management and administration community.
Judged by a panel of esteemed experts, the competition recognises excellence in poster design, clarity of presentation, and scientific merit. Winners will not only receive recognition for their outstanding contributions but also have the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience, fostering networking opportunities and collaborations. You can vote for your favourite poster on Slido via the QR codes located around the poster exhibition space. Voting results will be announced during the conference closing ceremony.
Newcomers' meet up at the Welcome Reception
Join us for a warm welcome at this year’s newcomers' meetup at our conference welcome reception that will be kicking off the conference on April 23, 2024, from 19:00 to 21:00 at Storms Pakhus, the renowned Odense street food market. The Welcome reception will be an ideal opportunity for pre-conference networking and mingling. Delegates may also pick up their badges there. Registration will open at 18:00 and will remain accessible throughout the evening. To retrieve your badge, present your conference ticket QR code and enjoy a complimentary drink voucher. At 19:00, a welcoming speech will inaugurate our festivities, officially marking the start of the evening. Whether you're a newcomer to the community or a seasoned member, we eagerly await your presence.

We eagerly anticipate your arrival in Odense and extend a warm invitation for you to indulge in the delectable delights of our locally inspired vegan gala menu. This culinary experience, thoughtfully crafted to tantalise your taste buds, is our way of expressing gratitude to all attendees and is provided at no additional cost. In our commitment to sustainability and reducing food waste, we kindly ask attendees to register for the gala dinner in advance. By doing so, we can ensure that every dish served contributes to the success of our event and minimises our environmental footprint.
The gala dinner commences at 19:30, with doors opening to welcome you to an evening of culinary delights and celebration. Awards will be presented during dinner, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festivities that will continue until 1 am. For your convenience, shuttles will be available to transport attendees to and from the EARMA Bus Stop in central Odense. Please remember that access to the gala dinner is reserved for registered attendees only and requires presentation of your conference badge upon entry. There is no formal dress code, so come as you are and prepare to savour an evening of unforgettable flavours and camaraderie.

Research Security Summit in Odense
Research security is becoming an increasingly important topic in European R&I. EARMA is delighted to be joined in Odense by the Research Security Summit on April 23, 2024. The aim of this event is to build links in the European research management community in operationalising national research security guidelines and compliance measures. By sharing knowledge of national policy and practice in due diligence and research security matters, this event will establish a basis for further collaboration to build the capacity of research managers and mitigate research security risks in international research collaborations. The topic is "Working for the best...but ready for the worst", and we'll be discussing the European framework and proposals for a coordinated approach, very specific issues that challenge good practice in the field of scientific publications, predatory journals and AI. Join the EARMA BESTPRAC core group
We are currently seeking applications from interested individuals to join a new coordination group for the esteemed BESTPRAC thematic group. BESTPRAC started in 2014 as a COST Targeted Network that brought together administrative, financial and legal staff at universities and research-driven institutions, later then becoming a thematic group within EARMA. This current call is open to all research managers who are also EARMA members and who are interested in energising and coordinating BESTPRAC according to the terms of reference. By May 12, 2024, candidates should send a brief motivational letter (max. 1 page) outlining their interest and potential plans for actions/strategic vision within the coordination of the BESTPRAC thematic group.
