The two-day event on “Open Science in the Changing Global System,” organised by EARMA Open Science Thematic Group and sponsored by Digital Science, was held on September 18 - 19, 2024, in Brussels. The first day focused on the theme of “Sovereignty, Security, and Open Science”, where discussions explored the delicate balance between promoting openness in research and safeguarding research integrity and national interests in the context of shifting geopolitical dynamics. The theme of the second day was “Unequal Access to Knowledge", and focused on the multifaceted benefits and challenges of Open Science for researchers and institutions in lower-income countries. On December 2, 2024, the EARMA community celebrated the official launch of the Equality, Culture, Diversity, and Inclusion (ECDI) Thematic Group with a dynamic workshop in Brussels. The event, titled 'How Can Research Managers Adapt to Europe’s Evolving EDI Policies?', brought together research managers, policymakers, and EDI experts to exchange strategies and tools for fostering inclusive and equitable research environments. Highlights included insights on EU gender equality policies, actionable EDI strategies, and tools like the Gender Equality Academy toolkit. The 3rd RM Roadmap Ambassador Meeting was held online on November 12 - 13, 2024, as part of the EU-funded RM Roadmap project. The event featured presentations on the RM Competence Framework and key outcomes from the project, including co-creation sessions, a Training and Networking catalogue - mapping training, networking and mobility opportunities in Europe - and the RM Roadmap Survey. Attended by over 110 participants on the first day and 70 ambassadors on the second, the meeting also launched discussions on the co-creation session on the topic of Career Development Framework and the project’s value proposition. EARMA is delighted to announce its Annual Recognition Awards for 2024/25. Nominations are now open for the Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA), Outstanding Contribution Award (OCA), and Voluntary Service Recognition Awards (VSR). These awards celebrate exceptional contributions to the European and global RMA profession. Nominees must meet specific eligibility criteria, with all nominations due by February 21, 2025. EARMA members can apply for a €500 grant to support travel costs for professional development visits or attendance at conferences/events hosted by RMA organisations recognised by INORMS and EARMA, such as ARMA-UK, SARIMA, or NCURA.
