Content
Serious games can be very helpful and nice tools to get people to think about a topic. We have been experimenting this short and easy game with PhD students and researchers at different occasions and are happy to share the experience.
It all started when we looked for a way to make researchers think about potential users and application domains for their research outcomes. With the help of the Fablab manager from the local University Pedagogy and ICT Service (SUPTICE), we formalized this game mainly consisting of 5 different types of cards.
We will introduce the game and it’s possibilities, but most of all this session is planned as an interactive session, where maximum 10 groups of 6 people experiment the game. Imagination and fun will be the ingredients with the goal to allow participants to make the game their own: adapt it to their needs, bring it home and play.
Learning outcomes:
By the workshop's end, participants will:
- Gain familiarity with a notable serious game example and explore its diverse applications.
- Immerse themselves in the gaming experience, extracting practical insights.
- Acquire proficiency in adapting a versatile tool to diverse professional contexts.
- In summary, participants will leave with practical skills, a nuanced understanding of serious gaming applications, and the ability to seamlessly integrate a valuable tool into their professional toolkit
