Abstract

The role of the project manager in a widening country is absolutely crucial, not only in the pre-award phase but also in the post-award phase, when the project team often encounters an unprepared environment and a lack of understanding by the institution of the need to adhere to project standards that are not always the same as those of local grant schemes. Very often there is a conflict between project and line management which needs to be addressed by the adoption of some kind of regulation.

It is the setting up of project management processes at a university in a widening country that will be the subject of this paper. The poster will present the development of a guideline at the faculty level:

- Schedule for the preparation of the project management application guideline

- Suggestions for resolving project and line management conflicts

- Essential workflow throughout the project life cycle

In particular, the goal of the poster presentation is to share lessons learned from the preparation process and to point out current issues that project managers face when implementing their first Horizon projects.
