Introduction
Launched in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Virtual Event Grant (VEG) is designed to inspire innovation and creativity in the planning and execution of virtual events. This grant has been continuously successful since its inception and we're excited to see the unique ideas you bring to the table this year.

Scope & Objectives
We encourage you to think outside the box. Whether you're planning a workshop, seminar, or any other type of virtual event, we want to hear your innovative ideas. Be imaginative, be daring! The only requirement is to adhere to our standard travel award selection criteria. Additionally, we're interested in how your proposed event will bring value to both organizers and participants, and how collaboration with other organizations can enhance the event.

Funding Details
For 2023, we have allocated a total of €1,000 to support either a collaborative event by a small group of institutions or two separate events hosted by individual institutions. Applications for smaller amounts are also welcome, as this can potentially fund more projects. Funding can be used for design, promotion, delivery of a virtual event, or fees for external speakers. Please note that staffing and overhead costs are not eligible.

Eligibility & Deadlines
Applicants should have a minimum of two years’ experience in Research Management and Administration. Current EARMA members in good standing are eligible to apply, provided they have been members for at least the previous membership year. Board and Award Committee members, and members who have received grants in the same or consecutive calendar year, are not eligible.

Applications must be submitted by 17:00 (CEST) on Monday July 10, 2023.

Selection Criteria
The Awards Committee will evaluate applications based on the following criteria:

  1. Alignment with EARMA's mission: EARMA's Mission
  2. Contribution to professional development and current work in research management and administration
  3. Effectiveness of measures to publicise the event and disseminate knowledge gained

Each criterion carries equal weight.

Please also refer to EARMA’s general terms and conditions, noting that VEG rules take precedence. You will need to calculate and justify the funding that you are applying for.

Application Process
The VEG has a dedicated application form that must be filled out by the specified deadline. Please complete the form on SurveyMonkey.

Evaluation & Notification
All nominations must be received by 17:00 (CEST) on Monday July 10, 2023. Nominations will be evaluated by the EARMA Awards Committee, and recommendations forwarded to the EARMA Board for review. Awardees will receive written notification of the decision once ratified by the EARMA Board.
