The European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) has today (September 7, 2023) welcomed the association of the United Kingdom (UK) to Horizon Europe, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, in addition to the Copernicus Earth Observation programme.
We are pleased that our UK-based research professionals can participate on a par with their EU counterparts in Horizon Europe grant applications and projects as a fully associated member for the remainder of the programme, up to 2027.
Dipti Pandya, EARMA Chair, said: “The United Kingdom has long been a key strategic partner in the European research and innovation ecosystem. On behalf of our members, I warmly welcome the agreement as it provides a much needed level of certainty.
"The association of the UK to both the Horizon Europe and Copernicus programmes will allow the research management community to continue our strong collaborations with our British counterparts. These strong professional relationships, although paused briefly, will now continue to the benefit of science.
“EARMA has a significant membership in the UK and we have been aware of the trepidation of our community and the difficulties of operating without an agreement. The great news today will provide the reassurance that EU collaboration will be further sustained and strengthened."
