INORMS Congress 2025: A Record-Breaking Celebration of Global Research Management

The INORMS Congress 2025, hosted by EARMA in vibrant Madrid, has officially made history! From 5–8 May, we welcomed over 2,200 delegates from 67 countries — marking the largest global gathering of research management professionals to date. With more than 400 speakers, the Congress delivered a powerful programme of ideas, innovation and inspiration.

At the heart of the event was a strong sense of community and purpose. EARMA Chair Dipti Pandya described the Congress as “a turning point” for EARMA and the profession, celebrating our evolution into a strategic, collaborative and globally connected field.

“For me, INORMS 2025 was really about community — a vibrant, global research management community that learns, grows, and supports one another. In these uncertain times, there is strength in knowing we are not alone. Hosting INORMS has been a major turning point for EARMA, affirming our role as a hub for professional development, knowledge exchange, and strategic leadership.”  – Dipti Pandya, EARMA Chair

Speakers and attendees alike reflected on the incredible strides the profession has taken. From the launch of major initiatives such as the RM Roadmap, RM COMP, and EARMA’s RM Framework, to the deep impact of Thematic Groups and our Mentorship Programme, it was clear: research managers are shaping the future of science.

As EARMA Treasurer Christian Bonnici noted, this was a moment of global recognition for our field:

“The synergy between researchers and RMAs was on full display, showing the real impact of our profession on human wellbeing.”

And it wasn’t just about policies and frameworks — it was personal. From the Newcomers’ Meet-Up to heartfelt reflections on friendship, purpose and inclusion, the Congress reminded us of the power of human connection.

“Friendship and understanding aren’t just soft skills — they’re the foundation of global collaboration.” – Edwin Kanters, EARMA Board Member

As we look to the future, INORMS 2025 affirmed that EARMA is not only growing — it’s leading. With strategic initiatives in place, a thriving community, and renewed energy from around the world, we are more ready than ever to elevate our profession.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Madrid and made this Congress unforgettable. Let’s keep the momentum going!
