We are very pleased to announce that we have received a record number of abstracts for the INORMS Congress Madrid 2025. Thank you to the 700 of you who made a full submission, your participation and input will make this the best EARMA organised conference yet. Our volunteer expert evaluators will be reviewing the abstracts in the coming weeks and they will select the most up-to-date best practices in research management for you to enjoy. Submitters will be notified during the first week of November regarding their abstract. Please note that early bird registration will open December 02, 2024, and we strongly advise our community members to register as soon as possible to secure your spot as interest in this upcoming conference is particularly high as it is an international research management event. As research landscapes worldwide increasingly emphasise the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), research managers must be well-informed and proactive in aligning their practices with these policies. We invite you to Brussels for a one-day workshop focused on how to adapt to Europe’s evolving EDI policies taking place December 2, 2024. Furthermore, this occasion will be the inaugural gathering to launch the exciting work of the newly established EARMA thematic group on Equality, Culture, Diversity, and Inclusion (ECDI). More

The RM Roadmap co-creation session 2 brought research managers (RMs) together from across 28 countries to create and inform a bottom-up consensus on the future of research management (RM) and inform the community about existing training, networking, funding and mobility opportunities in the region. The co-creation exercise provides a nuanced overview of the varied and evolving nature of research management in Europe, highlighting key areas and national and thematic specificities that influence the profession. A dashboard has been developed to make the information contained in the RM-Roadmap Catalogue of Professional Development Opportunities for Research Managers in Europe more readily and widely available to the research management (RM) community. This has been a collaborative endeavour between the CARDEA and RM Roadmap projects. The information contained in the dashboard aims to provide a snapshot of the currently existing training, funding, networking, mobility opportunities, as well as existing RM-Networks, making it a useful and timely resource to be used by the RM community. Leading the provision of excellent research management is both demanding and rewarding. Our upcoming EARMA Leadership events will comprise of two sessions. The first, taking place in November, is designed for experienced leaders. This group will consist of up to 28 individuals in research management leadership roles from across Europe and beyond with more than 4 years of experience as leaders. EARMA’s tailor-made ‘Leadership in Research Event’ is designed to support you in dealing with these issues while giving you the time and space to think and reflect. Share your ambitions and dilemmas with peers and bring back new perspectives and tools to enhance your workplace. More
The second EARMA Leadership session will gather up to 28 new leaders, with formal responsibility for RMA staff or managing RMA networks or project teams. Through a blend of key-note presentations, peer working and learning groups, case studies and networking opportunities you can share your ambitions and your dilemmas with your peers and bring back new perspectives and tools to your work. The course, which will take place February 18-20, will target leaders with up to 4 years of experience in their leadership role. However, consideration will be given to applicants with a desire to take the next step into a leadership role. More

The INORMS study tour in Southern Africa in 2023 was a great success, so we are now providing you with another opportunity to extend your INORMS Congress experience by participating in the post-congress study tour May 08-15, 2025. Operationalising “research security” measures has become a defining challenge for research organisations and is one that disproportionately affects research managers as the need for enhanced due diligence and engagement with regulatory compliance measures increases significantly. Starting October 21, 2024, the aim of this online event series is to address the needs of the research management community identified at the EARMA research security summit in Odense. The presenters will host a series of three free to attend online events focused on relevant research security areas. More
