RM Roadmap Ambassador November 2024

RM Roadmap Ambassador Meeting on November 12

The public session of the 3rd RM Roadmap Ambassador Meeting will take place on November 12, 2024, from 13:00- 15:30 CET online. The event will showcase results from the EU-funded RM Roadmap Project including outcomes from the co-creation sessions on the Knowledge and Community Platform, the RM Roadmap Survey, and the mapping exercise mapping existing training, mobility and networking opportunities available to research managers in Europe. Furthermore, the RM Competency Framework will be introduced.​ More

RM Roadmap 3rd co-creation session to commence on November

The 3rd co-creation session will commence on November 14, 2024, until December 19, 2024, on the topic of career development framework. The co-creation session will discuss questions about a European-wide training scheme for research managers, as well as the professional development and career path for research managers. The platform consists of 10 thematic groups and 40 country communities and already counts about 2.400 contributors.​ More

EARMA Leadership Event 2025: Aspiring leader​

The second EARMA Leadership session will gather up to 28 new leaders, with formal responsibility for RMA staff or managing RMA networks or project teams. Through a blend of key-note presentations, peer working, learning groups, case studies, and networking opportunities you can share your ambitions and your dilemmas with your peers and bring back new perspectives and tools to your work. The course, which will take place February 18-20, will target leaders with up to four years of experience in their leadership role. However, consideration will be given to applicants with a desire to take the next step into a leadership role. More

EARMA Mentorship Scheme programme

The EARMA Mentorship Scheme is a tailored initiative designed to foster a culture of continuous learning, meaningful networking, and the exchange of best practices among EARMA members. This provides a structured environment where experienced mentors guide new professionals in their research management careers. The new programme will start on February 6, 2025, and involve 20 participants (ten mentors and ten mentees) from the EARMA community, paired based on criteria such as years of experience, areas of expertise, and development goals. Applications to join as a mentor or mentee are open until November 22, 2024. More

JoRMA's Author Mentorship Program

If you have considered writing an article for the Journal of Research Management and Administration (JoRMA) or if you are a published author working in the field of RMA and want to share your expertise with aspiring authors, JoRMA’s Author Mentorship Program can help. The programme pairs budding writers with published authors who will provide assistance for up to six months, starting on January 1, 2025. Mentors and mentees should apply by November 29, 2024. More

Knowledge-sharing at the BESTPRAC meeting in Lyon

On October 14-15, 2024, the recent BESTPRAC meeting in Lyon, organised by members of ENS Lyon and INSAVALOR Lyon, brought together research support professionals from across Europe to exchange knowledge and best practices. Held over two productive days, the event featured a variety of presentations, engaging discussions, and valuable networking opportunities. From insightful presentations to meaningful conversations over coffee, the event underscored the importance of collaboration within our community. As we move forward, we are excited to see how the ideas shared in Lyon will shape our future work. More

Call for Candidates for CoARA Steering Board Members – Chair, Vice Chair, and Steering Board Members

The CoARA Secretariat is seeking candidates for Chair and seven Steering Board Members, including one Vice-Chair, to be elected at the CoARA General Assembly on December 9, 2024. The election aims to ensure that the Steering Board is composed of individuals who bring a diverse range of expertise, leadership, and commitment to advancing research assessment reforms, while maintaining balanced representation across member organisations. Elected candidates will begin their terms immediately upon the announcement of the voting results. Applications should be sent to the CoARA Secretariat by November 11, 2024. More

The 14th ERION EARMA Thematic Group event, titled "Artificial Intelligence and Ethics, the Big Wave", gathered prominent experts to address the evolving role of ethics in AI within research management. Held at the Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) in Barcelona, this occasion brought together leaders from various backgrounds to discuss the ethical challenges AI presents, particularly in the context of research integrity, societal impact, and institutional responsibility. Through inspiring discussions and a collaborative environment, the event highlighted the need for ethical integration as AI technologies continue to advance. ​More

Constitution of a new subcommittee: RoRMA

We are pleased to announce the formation of a new subcommittee: Research on Research Management and Administration (RoRMA). The RoRMA subcommittee is dedicated to fostering the creation, dissemination, and use of RMA knowledge; promoting "research on RMA" as a basis for professionalisation; and investigating the potential for including RMA research as a permanent EARMA activity. This new subcommittee will play a crucial role in advancing the field of Research Management and Administration, contributing to its growth and professionalisation. Promoting European cooperation in developing responses to research security challenges: Online event

Operationalising “research security” measures has become a defining challenge for research organisations and is one that disproportionately affects research managers as the need for enhanced due diligence and engagement with regulatory compliance measures increases significantly. The aim of this online event series is to address the needs of the research management community identified at the EARMA research security summit in Odense.
