WS1 Impact-Driven Proposal Design for Horizon Europe

Research managers offering pre-award support to coordinators of Horizon Europe proposals


What to expect:
This interactive workshop will equip research managers with the skills and knowledge necessary to support the development of high-quality, competitive Horizon Europe proposals. The course will guide participants through the key steps of supporting a coordinator in transforming their initial idea into a fully developed proposal that maximises the chances of success. Special emphasis will be placed on:

• Ensuring the project design is aligned with Horizon Europe’s impact-driven goals
• Building the right consortium
• Learning how to place ‘Impact’ at the centre of proposals, ensuring that the pathways to impact are robust and clearly communicated using ERINN Impact Pathway methodology

Workshop content

Attendees will leave the workshop with a clear understanding of how to approach project design, consortium selection, and proposal writing with a focus on impact. By using practical, step-by-step guidance, participants will be better equipped to support proposals that are strategically designed, well-coordinated, and impactful.

The course will cover:
• Call topic assessment and analysis
• Concept note development
• Designing tasks and Work Packages
• Forming a suitable consortium
• Mapping Impact Pathways

Learning Outcomes:
• Work efficiently and effectively to develop a high-scoring proposal
• Prioritise impact in project design and consortium selection
• Integrate the ‘language’ of impact throughout your proposal
• Develop credible Impact Pathways using a step-by-step methodology
• Fully address and communicate the expected outcomes in your proposal

By mastering these techniques, participants will significantly improve their proposal success rates and help position their institutions for greater success in Horizon Europe funding.

ERINN Innovation has an impressive legacy in Horizon Europe collaborative calls; training hundreds of participants through our courses and workshops, supporting over 200 Horizon Europe proposals led by top-performing research institutions across Europe since the programme's inception. Our training team draws on this extensive experience and will provide practical tips and examples to support research managers in their day-to-day pre-award work.

Michael Papapetrou

Michael Papa
Michael is a director and co-founder of ERINN Innovaton. He has over 20 years’ experience in developing concepts, putting together consortia, raising funds and managing research and innovation projects. Michael has coordinated 10 European funded projects in the fields of clean energy and alternative water sources. As part of this work he co-invented 6 patents that are now part of a start-up company commercialising the results of the projects. Over the past few years, Michael and the whole ERINN team are using their accumulated experience to support Universities and Research Centres in developing impactful research proposals. In this role Michael has been involved personally in over 100 proposals and grant funding training courses.



Pamela Cardillo


pamela
Pamela is a qualified project manager with over 15 years' experience in European and international projects. Her work at ERINN includes developing and delivering Horizon Europe training and workshops. Additionally, she provides expert support to applicants, helping them refine proposals to achieve higher evaluation scores. Pamela also leads the Dissemination, Exploitation, and Communication work packages for several Horizon Europe projects.

Tara Murphy is an accomplished Learning and Development Manager with nearly three decades of experience in education and training. Known for her ability to foster professional growth, Tara blends strategic insight with practical expertise to design dynamic, engaging learning experiences that equip participants with actionable tools to advance their careers and organisations. She leads ERINN’s training services, delivering bespoke, learner-focused courses tailored to EC research programmes, including Horizon Europe and LIFE. Her expertise spans capacity building, proposal development, science communication, and stakeholder engagement.
