The portfolio of funding opportunities to develop the R&I dimension of European University Alliances is currently very narrow. As the only dedicated call for this purpose, the European Excellence Initiative (EEI) stands out; and the last EEI call published as part of the Horizon Europe programme will be closing in November 2025. Yet, the EEI comes with some pitfalls. It is part of the Widening section of Horizon Europe, focused on supporting countries performing less in terms of R&I. And the funding comes as a Coordination and Support Action, with limited allowance for the actual R&I activities. In the webinar of the EUI Thematic Group of EARMA, we will share and discuss how the alliances successful in previous EEI call have overcome the challenges and how the EEI projects fuel their R&I integration.
More about the European Universities Initiative (EUI) Thematic Group can be found here.
