Additional criteria for new-member applicants:

  • Be a current EARMA member (individual or institutional) in good standing
  • Hold an active EARMA membership in the following year

Selection criteria

All submitted applications will be checked for eligibility by EARMA in line with the conditions set out in the previous section. Where applications are judged to be fully eligible, the following selection criteria will be applied:

  • The strength of the case made to demonstrate the impact and enhancement to the individual and to their professional development;
  • The strength of the contribution to be made in support of EARMA’s mission;
  • The strength of the contribution to be made in support of the applicants’ institutional objectives;
  • The extent to which the applicant will share, disseminate, and implement the output(s) of their experience within their own organisation and their wider professional network.

Application process

The Conference Widening Bursary has a dedicated application form that must be completed and submitted by the published deadline. When opening the form, applicants can view all questions in advance to help them prepare. The form is divided into three sections: applicant information, eligibility questions, and assessment criteria questions. Applicants are asked to answer the eligibility questions truthfully, and these responses will be verified by the EARMA Secretariat. Applications cannot be modified once submitted, and the ones received after the deadline will not be considered.

Evaluation and notification

The list of eligible applications will be shared with the Awards Expert Group (AEG), which has been mandated by the EARMA Board to review applications. The AEG will assess and rank the eligible applications in line with the published criteria and, based on this, determine the proposed awardees. However, EARMA reserves the right not to grant awards to applications regardless of ranking, following a Board decision or a recommendation from the AEG.

The EARMA Secretariat will inform all applicants of the outcome of their application within one month after the round or final deadline under which they applied. Successful applicants will then receive clear guidance on the next steps and the process that follows.
