About the project
PvSeroRDT (A point-of-care serological rapid diagnostic test for risk of Plasmodium vivax hypnozoite infection), is an EDCTP collaborative project coordinated by Institut Pasteur, involving eight partner institutions in Europe and Africa. This project aims to develop a point-of-care rapid diagnostic test (RDT) for Plasmodium vivax malaria, addressing a critical gap in current diagnostic capabilities. P. vivax is considered the most difficult to eliminate due its dormant liver forms and sustain malaria transmission, which conventional tests fail to detect. Our consortium has developed the first diagnostic test to overcome this challenge, supporting the implementation of the P. vivax Serological Test and Treatment (PvSeroTAT) strategy for malaria control.
