International Project Manager

The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is looking for an International Project Manager to join the International team of the Research Grants Office to manage a portfolio of projects granted to the Institute. The International Tandem is responsible of the pre and post-award phases of the competitive international grants and fellowships.

The candidate will primarily focus on the pre-award phase of international competitive projects proposals:

  • Identification of international funding opportunities and effective dissemination within the IJC research groups.
  • Support in the promotion activities of the Unit, including organisation of information days and training activities addressed to the scientific staff.
  • Support in the preparation and submission of international research proposals, including market-oriented proposals led by the Innovation Unit.
  • Establish fluid communication with the different funding institutions, other research institutions, as well as with Josep Carreras’s Group Leaders and research support departments (mainly HR, Finance and Purchasing Departments).
  • Collaboration with the post-award manager during the implementation of the project. It is expected that the selected person learns de basics of post-award management.
  • Contribution and support in the preparation of strategic projects of the institution lead by the Head of the Strategic Office.
  • Participation in other transversal tasks of the International, National, and Strategic Projects Offices, when required.


Your profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, a doctoral degree would be an asset (other areas also accepted if proven working experience in biomedical research grants preparation).
  • Min 1-year experience in biomedical research promotion and grants preparation.
  • Knowledge of the European funding programs (Horizon Europe required, other EU funding programs will be a plus).
  • Basic level of Catalan and Spanish.
  • Proficiency level in English; fluency in other languages will be a plus.
  • Good knowledge of Office 365; advanced Excel skills will be an asset.
  • Desirable competencies: high scientific written skills, good communication and listening skills, good team player, problem-solver and customer-oriented, high-performance capacity and high level of interest, ability to work under deadlines and handle varying workloads with high responsibility and independency, positive attitude and able to work with different internal and external collaborators with different professional profiles
