About the Role

Did you know that KU Leuven is considered one of the most innovative universities in the world? At KU Leuven Research & Development (LRD), we help bridge the gap between academia and industry, and between knowledge and society. Our mission is to support KU Leuven researchers throughout their journey and to help them unlock the social and economic potential of their research.

International research collaboration is often made possible through funding from the European Commission and other international bodies. The LRD team for European and International Projects plays a vital role in this context. We support researchers in preparing, implementing, and reporting on European and international research projects.

We are currently looking for a new colleague to join our enthusiastic team of 14 advisors and 4 support staff. Could this be you?

Your Responsibilities

As an Advisor, you will be the main point of contact for European and international research projects. Researchers, professors, colleagues, and other stakeholders will rely on you for clear advice and support on a wide range of financial, administrative, and legal matters.

Your tasks will include:

  • Providing guidance on budget preparation and management
  • Negotiating and interpreting contract terms
  • Supporting project implementation and reporting

Although the work can be complex, you will be fully supported by experienced colleagues, as well as legal, finance, and intellectual property experts. You will also stay up to date on policy changes and regulations through training sessions, publications, and events, and translate this knowledge into practical insights for KU Leuven researchers and their international partners.

Your Profile

  • You hold a Master’s degree (or have equivalent experience)
  • You have preferably already gained some professional experience, and are familiar with European and international research funding
  • You are flexible and enjoy working on multiple projects in different phases
  • You are highly organised and comfortable with planning and coordination
  • You are client-focused, solution-oriented, and maintain a positive attitude
  • You have excellent communication skills and can express yourself clearly in both Dutch and English
  • You are a true team player and enjoy working collaboratively toward shared goals

What We Offer

  • A full-time, permanent position (80% part-time negotiable) in the heart of Leuven
  • Depending on your experience, you will start in Grade 7, 8 or 9:
    • Grade 8 if you meet all core requirements
    • Grade 7 if you will follow a training plan
    • Grade 9 if you bring significant experience and can take on extra responsibilities
  • Flexible working conditions, including up to 50% remote work
  • A wide range of benefits, such as:
    • Hospitalisation and group insurance
    • Additional holiday days
    • Commuting support (bicycle and public transport reimbursement, bike leasing)
    • Eco vouchers
    • A strong culture of learning and development, with room for professional growth and training
