Getting Ready for Framework 10
How the period 2024-2028 will shape the next European Research Programme
Abstract
The next European Research Programme (for now, Framework 10) will begin in 2028. Although Horizon Europe is only at its halfway point, the preparation for Framework 10 already began in December 2022, when the European Commission asked individuals and organisations to participate in the largest public consultation ever held on the past, present and future of the EU’s Horizon research and innovation programmes. By February 2023, a total of 2,788 responses and 265 position papers were received. This was the start of an intensive preparation process that will continue until 2028.
This presentation provides a roadmap for the development of Framework 10 from 2024 to 2028. For RMAs, this will act as a guideline on how to monitor the progress of Framework 10. The presentation will focus on some key developments from 2024 to 2028, including.
EU Priorities 2024 +
Mid-term review of Horizon Europe
Impact Assessment of Framework 10
National Inputs to the design of Framework 10
The role of Expert Groups in influencing the design of top-down (policy-driven) research programmes.
The presentation will also provide a detailed overview of the EU’s political process in agreeing the contents and structure of Framework 10. For Newcomers, the period 2024-2028 will be a brilliant learning opportunity on EU decision-making. They will come away from this presentation with a clear view of what they can do now to sustain or improve success rates in 2028 and beyond.
