Evidencing Impact: who has the magic bullet?
How can RMAs best support researchers with evidencing the economic and societal impact of their research
Conference
Format: Oral 30 Minutes
Topic: Research Cycle Support Services (Transversal)
Abstract
This interactive session will explore the challenge of impact evidence from building evidence collection into the research process to the very real challenge of tracking the progress toward impact post-research. It will provide real-life examples of how those challenges have been addressed by others in the secotr and how successful (or not )they have been.
The session will draw on the RMA 'hive-mind' to highlight appropriate data collection methods at different timeframes - from the very basic to the programme-level evaluations. In addition, it will highlight the areas that require caution such as partner fatigue. The truth is that there is no 'magic bullet' to gathering impact evidence, but there are tried and tested methods with certain advantages and pitfalls.
