Abstract
PURE data from applications and awards are not only nice numbers and statistics of how we perform and work.
The data can also be used to develop our working procedures. In this session CBS RSO will take you through the journey of building up a dataset in PURE and how we have started using the cleaned data for several purposes.
How do you build up a nice dataset? The story of cleaning data is about time and discipline! In the CBS-RSO case we started out with ideas in July 2021, developed these ideas via workshops, seminars and internal discussions. Later a decision was taken to have very few people adding data into PURE. The little group of people were the same people also cleaning the existing data to secure consistency. With this work CBS-RSO now has a dataset in PURE that is reliable and trusted in all parts of the organisation.

How do we use our data? CBS-RSO will give hands-on presentation of the three levels we currently operate on. These are:
Management Level - where data is/can be used for strategic decisions, showing impact of CBS research, preparing management to make priorities, giving inputs for reporting, communication and dissemination.
Department Level - where data is/can be used for profiling of research and researchers, external funding strategies and career development for researchers.
RSO - where data is/can be used for prioritation of tasks (team organisation, allocation of resources), internal strategy and how do we approach different funders and calls. Data also helps us defining our role, provide us with work flow management and capacity building.
