Format: Fifteen-Minute Discussion Tables

Topic: Professional and Career Development

Abstract

This presentation aims to address the theme of this year’s conference ‘Where is RMA Going? The Future of RMA in a Rapidly Changing World’ by linking to the European Strategy for Universities (2022) and to the themes of connecting universities and joining forces among groups and professional functions.
This will be done by showcasing the experience of the education division at UniBo and their effort to activate intercultural preparation for its staff while connecting with professional groups in other functions, for example in research management and beyond, in modern universities.
The presentation aims to do so through a case study run at the university of Bologna where staff in the education division have been equipped with intercultural competences to navigate international meetings and events; this preparation is also meant to raise people’s confidence and break silos, as voiced by the European Commission in its Strategy for universities 2022.
Moreover, this training was meant to align and connect this staff with those in different university divisions, for example in research support that are expected to be generally more prepared for these international gatherings. This connection of staff looks key, again, to the European Strategy for Universities.
