EDI and the Research Support Office - a model

A practical model for how Research Support Offices can understand and implement diversity and internationalisation

Conference

EARMA Conference Odense 2024

Format: Poster

Topic: Operations and Planning

Abstract

EDI is increasingly becoming important for RMAs with Gender Equality Plans, mandatory gender analysis in Horizon Europe applications, the increased focus on representation on all levels of research-producing organisations and, of course in policy and strategy documents like the ERA strategy and Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment. This has implications for the definition of RMA skills, collaboration with other parts of the research institutions, strategies, policy and lobbying approaches.

This poster presents a comprehensive approach to how RSOs can ensure that diversity and internationalisation are embedded in their work and offices, taking account of the many aspects described above (and more). It can be difficult to know where to start, and the model provides different starting points and advice on small steps to be taken to develop the RSO itself and its work with research and researchers to become increasingly inclusive.
