Abstract

No one can ignore the full combined significance of the shifts we have all witnessed in just one decade in international relations, in the organization of the global economy, in communications technologies, in global domestic policy, in the waves of migration, in hostile takeovers around the world, a pandemic and in so much more.

The goal of this session is:
to imagine the new insights and new possibilities that can inspire our work and tip us toward a better future by asking: “What if?”
To kick-start a powerful way of embracing, influencing, and planning for the future of a Global Research - Management - Agenda by scenario thinking.

We have prepared scenarios to start the perspectivistic viewpoints looking back from 2028. Important to note that scenarios are stories, are hypothesis, not predictions; Scenarios are designed to stretch our thinking about the opportunities and threats that the future might hold.

A few of the corner stones that will embrace all our actions:
Europe can only be as strong as its partners are
A Framework Programme hence can only be as good as its owners
In 2028 we are striving for an equitable world
G7, G20 priorities and the UN’s 15 Global Challenges are providing the baseline now
The EU agenda focuses on:
Security (offline and online)
Global health
Digital transformation (data ownership)
Sustainable energy (independence)
Trade
Finance governance (following several waves of inflation)

Hence, the more of those influences we can manage to include for a global scenario of collaboration, the more policy stakeholders and decision makers we can manage to bring on board, the more effective our all our actions shall be.
