EARMA Conference Prague 2023

Format: Oral 30 Minutes

Topic: Policy, Strategy, Evaluation and Foresight

Abstract

We will reflect on the importance of ethics and research integrity for research managers and administrators in the European and global context and what EARMA is doing in this regard since 2018.

We will discuss with Isidoros Karatzas, Head of the Research Ethics and Integrity sector at the European Commission, DG Research & Innovation about the European Research Area Pact and the Global approach to Research & Innovation.

This is a dialogue in constant construction together with the stakeholders. From ERION we want to share some experiences in the areas of new technologies and global health. We believe that it is important for research managers to participate in the discussions and contribute to implement good practices in international collaborations, especially in developing countries.

ERION is the Ethics and Research Integrity Officer Network within EARMA. Topics addressed in the meetings have covered ethics and research integrity in Horizon Europe, Open Science, GDPR implementation, training and many others.

ERION acts as a stakeholder for the European Commission DG R&I Ethics Sector.

We will also present the strategy of ERION for the near future, especially in terms of reinforcing the role of the RMAs on research integrity and ethics.

A key component of ERION are the European projects on ethics, integrity, responsible research: SOPs4RI, iRECS, PATTERN which are working for a strong responsible research integrity culture in Europe and increasing trust in science.
