Abstract
RMAs are often the support-system for researchers submitting ERC proposals. We guide researchers on the scheme requirements to help them pitch their profile and their idea. However, not all researchers are ready yet or understand the level of ambition they require for an ERC project. While working to improve applications from researchers who have reached out to us is important, there is also a longer-term need to identify and prepare our future applicants.
We will address the following questions:
What role can RMAs play in guiding candidates towards an ERC suitable profile?
How can we educate our researchers on the ERC’s level of ambition? Can we help nurture this sense of ground-breaking ambition?
How do we identify our pipe-line of candidates?
What would success look like?
The central Grant Support Team at the University of Glasgow has been working with College-based research support colleagues across the University to try and increase the cohort of ERC-ready PIs. We hope to present our experience of this so far and to have an exchange of ideas on this topic with colleagues.
