Abstract
Have you ever thought about RMAs working in funding and policy-making institutions? Join us in exploring similarities and differences between RMAs working in different types of organisations.
Evidence suggests that RMAs in non-research performing organisations (non-RPOs) have typically a higher academic qualifications profile than those working at RPOs. This could be due to a proactive career change by former researchers (career diversification) and/or by a significant demand for these professionals by non-RPOs, namely research funders. What do you think?
Generally, RMAs at non-RPOs consider themselves as part of the wider RMA profession, although “mixed identities” or “undefined identities” are significant. Shared vision, mission and aims are mentioned as commonalities. Political drivers and public policy perspectives are example differences. RMAs at RPOs also see colleagues at non-RPOs as part of the same community, sharing the same general objectives, only from a different perspective. Do you agree?
Increased proximity and lowered “cultural” barriers among both categories of RMAs are welcome and seen as important to the overall mission of R&I ecosystems. Is this right?
