Abstract

What is unique about EIC Pathfinder & EIC Transition?
Are these two grants related or connected? If so, how?
What do the two grants have to do with the prestigious ERC grant?

When it comes to Horizon Europe funding opportunities, the EIC Pathfinder and EIC Transition research grants are notably different, carrying very unique requirements and targeting only a select and specific research audience. From our experience, we note a significant gap between what applicants believe these grants are about & who can apply, to what these research grants really call for. Many common questions, challenges, and pitfalls which applicants time and again come across stem from this significant gap.

The lack of such clear understanding about what these grants really call for leads many applicants to devote much time and resources on applications that will be deemed unsuccessful.

Therefore, we’ll focus this session on providing key information and insights that will benefit research managers and Funding Advisors. They are uniquely positioned to both screen for relevant applicants within their institutions, and then offer helpful tools, insights and resources that can specifically help throughout the EIC proposal process.

We will discuss:
- Candidate screening - Who can actually apply to either EIC Pathfinder or EIC Transition? What parameters do RMAs need to keep in mind?
- What makes a highly competitive EIC Pathfinder application? And then, what makes a highly competitive EIC Transition application? Are there any common lines in that respect?
- Lessons learned - What are the main pitfalls of each one of these grants?

During this session, we will shine a spotlight on these two funding opportunities, and provide specific insights, tools and considerations for RMA’s to have at hand when screening candidates and working with their researchers applying to these grants.
