Maximizing Research Impact (Part 2)
RMAs as Valorization Ambassadors Throughout the Research Life Cycle
Conference
Format: Fifteen-Minute Discussion Tables
Topic: 3. Knowledge Valorisation
Abstract
We all agree that valorization of research results is essential to create benefits for society. But what does it entail? What is my role in making this happen? And how? RMAs actually can play a key role throughout the research life cycle to spot valorization opportunities! Yes, we can! In this session, we will provide a 360-degree view on valorization by hosting three dynamic discussion tables focusing on valorization through public-private partnerships, education, and policy-making. We will discuss the pivotal role of RMAs in identifying and encouraging valorization opportunities by asking the right questions at the right time to the right audience. Each table will delve into a specific valorization pathway, and participants will be encouraged to share insights, strategies, and best practices. As a result, RMAs will leave this discussion feeling empowered to make a difference in translating research into societal impact and daring to discover the entrepreneur, the educator, and the policy ambassador in their bloodstream.
Objective: The goal of this session is to achieve a mindset change where RMAs see themselves as agents of change to translate research into societal impact. The discussion will equip them with practical tools to enhance their roles as inquiring sparring partners to researchers in order to scout for valorization opportunities and translate them into concrete implementation plans.
Discussion Table on Valorization in the Education Sector (one of the three we offer as one session):
This session will focus on how RMAs can become change agents who can bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and transformative education. We will explore how RMAs can proactively facilitate connections between researchers and knowledge multiplicators—the educators who spread innovative research knowledge across curricula and institutions. We will discuss how RMAs can scout for research results that can be translated into add-ons to existing curricula and education events supporting education that is up to date with state-of-the-art research.
This roundtable will inspire RMAs to become proactive connectors, driving a culture of innovation in education by facilitating the right conversations. By bridging research and education, RMAs can ensure that research results don’t just remain in publications but become part of the educational landscape, creating lasting, widespread impact and inspiring the next generation of professionals.
