Crafting Sustainable Futures for EU Projects

Funding Ends, Impact Doesn’t: Crafting Sustainable Futures for EU Projects

Conference

INORMS Congress Madrid 2025

Format: Poster

Topic: 8. Sustainability in RMA

Abstract

In the realm of EU-funded projects, ensuring the sustainability of research outcomes is paramount. Project sustainability extends beyond merely sustaining research outcomes; it involves devising strategies to perpetuate the research and its benefits long after the funding period concludes, ultimately reaching and benefiting patients. Unfortunately, many stakeholders remain unaware of this crucial aspect. Without foresight and strategic planning, the end of funding could spell the end of potentially life-altering or life-saving research. Therefore, it is imperative to plan ahead, ensuring that research can continue to thrive and impact patient care positively.

At the conference, we will present a poster featuring an interactive element where attendees can share their perceptions of sustainability in EU projects. This activity aims to engage participants and highlight the diverse understanding of sustainability within the research community. Furthermore, our poster will include findings from our research on the sustainability of EU-funded projects. We will provide data on how these projects continue post-funding, detailing their forms, and the proportion that manage to sustain versus those that do not. These insights will be invaluable for both pre-award and post-award stakeholders.

Additionally, we will offer a brief overview of our services, demonstrating how we support consortia in crafting effective sustainability plans. By sharing our expertise, we aim to equip the audience with practical knowledge to enhance the longevity and impact of their projects.

Join us to explore the essential components of project sustainability, engage in interactive discussions, and gain insights that can transform your approach to managing EU-funded research.
