Abstract

The growing global emphasis on sustainability within Research Management and Administration (RMA) necessitates the development of innovative and collaborative solutions that can be applied across diverse institutional and regional contexts. Financial Research Administration and Management (FRAM) plays a crucial role in this ecosystem by ensuring that research funding is effectively managed, contributing to both short-term efficiency and long-term organizational success with broader societal impact. To address the evolving challenges in financial research management, creating the Financial Research Administration and Management Community of Practice (FRAM-COP) presents a unique opportunity to foster sustainability in RMA across institutions globally.
FRAM-COP is an interdisciplinary platform connecting financial research administrators and managers from diverse institutions, including developing and developed regions. By encouraging the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and innovative strategies, FRAM-COP aims to improve resource allocation, streamline financial processes, and ensure compliance with both local and international funding regulations. Through regular engagement, case studies, training sessions, and collaborative initiatives, this community seeks to advance sustainability in RMA while addressing region-specific challenges, such as those faced by underfunded institutions or organizations transitioning to more transparent financial systems.
This session will explore how FRAM-COP aligns with broader sustainability goals in RMA, contributing to developing resilient financial management systems that support continuous growth and long-term sustainability. Key focus areas include adopting sustainable financial practices, the ethical dimensions of financial management, and fostering collaborative partnerships that promote responsibility, transparency, and equitable resource distribution across the global research landscape. Specific examples of successful cooperative efforts and best practices within FRAM-COP will be presented, offering participants practical insights into improving financial processes at their institutions.
As a forward-looking initiative, FRAM-COP contributes to developing a sustainable profession by equipping financial research administrators and managers with the tools, resources, and networks necessary to navigate the complexities of modern research ecosystems. This initiative also supports global knowledge sharing and capacity building, creating opportunities for collaboration that transcend institutional and national boundaries. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies for building resilient financial systems, fostering sustainable partnerships, and addressing ethical challenges in financial management.
