Informing a positive research culture framework in Australia: a rapid review highlighting enablers and barriers of implementation strategies into real-world research settings

Abstract

The Australian code for the responsible conduct of research (2018) identifies the promotion of research culture as a key principle of responsible research conduct. Entrenched industry norms and systemic issues throughout the research sector have however created obstacles to consistent and widespread change toward positive institutional research culture. This poster provides comprehensive summary of the existing literature and knowledge about positive research culture via a rigorous rapid review. Highlighting implementation strategies that have been utilised to improve the research culture milieu and focusing on the Australian context, the review examined content related to enablers and barriers of implementation over the last ten years. The review systematically searched, appraised, and synthesised research evidence for the purpose of identifying methods for best practice. The findings are relevant to all institutions that conduct research and will assist them to meet their obligations under the Code.
