Abstract

Munster Technological University (MTU), Cork, Ireland is a new Technological University with ever increasing research outputs. We believe that a strong research culture is critical to the further development of our research outputs. The MTU Research Office developed a programme of 'Research to Impact' tools, in collaboration with our researchers, which we are using to support researchers and increase their competitiveness. The tools used included Brainstorming of Research Proposition, A Researcher Interview Series, A Novel Research to Impact poster session, etc. For example during the Brainstorming sessions Researchers are invited to moderated sessions with the experienced research office team to present their idea aligned with opening funding proposals. The research office take an evaluators perspective and probe the researcher idea in line with the funding agencies call intent. This approach has shown great results in terms of increased success rates.
