Flexible Work in the Era of the Green Transition
Future of Work: Flexible Work Arrangements and the Green Transition
Conference
Format: Fifteen-Minute Discussion Tables
Topic: 8. Sustainability in RMA
Abstract
Developing a policy for alternative work schedules may be a cost-effective approach to providing staff with increased flexibility and autonomy, while also boosting morale, engagement, and reducing the carbon footprint. Research shows that engaged employees are more likely to be enthusiastic and productive and less susceptible to burnout. While offering a flexible work arrangement may not be a singular remedy for burnout, it may be a valuable tool to help staff cope with balancing work time with the demands in other spheres of life and may be better for our environment. In this session we will explore a variety of schedules and the green benefits of offering these options to staff. Implementing a policy for alternative work schedules may be part of an overall sustainability plan for your institution.
