Abstract

Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is an Italian private research university founded in 1921. Its main campus is located in Milan, Italy, with satellite campuses in Brescia, Piacenza, Cremona and Rome. The university is organized into 12 faculties across the different campuses that span from North (Milano, Brescia and Piacenza-Cremona) to central Italy (Rome): Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, Arts and Philosophy, Banking and Finance, Economic, Law, Educational Sciences, Linguistic Sciences and Foreign Literatures, Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences, Medicine and Surgery, Political and Social Sciences, Psychology.
Training programmes organised for researchers need on one side to be tailored and close to researchers and, on the other side, to avoid duplication among campuses, optimise use of resources and encourage researchers from different disciplines to share ideas and experiences.
The Università Cattolica Research Support services initiated a new training programme along with the start of the Horizon Europe Programme. Since 2021 2 editions of the training programme named “I giovedì della Ricerca Europea” (European Research Thursdays) have been organised and one is still ongoing. The training programmes included 23 sessions of presentation of Horizon Europe, its work-programmes and horizontal aspects such as gender analysis, societal issues and ethical requirements as well as practical session on how to write successful proposals and how to manage an awarded project. Trainings have been organised remotely and session have been held by both external professionals and researchers who conducted scientific research projects funded by European resources
The training programme has been followed by 930 researchers in 2021 and 447 in 2022 across the different campuses.
The poster will include a deeper analysis on how the training programmes have been organised and additional analysis on the researcher participation. It will provide inputs for discussion with other grant offices and research managers on how to implement successful training programmes for university researchers.
