Abstract

Presentation of a comprehensive training plan in the management of European R&I projects. It aims to strengthen the management capacity of Catalan institutions and meet the demand for training needs in the current European requirements for research management.
Candidates choose their own training itinerary and can enrol in the entire course or by modules, depending on their content knowledge and/or skills gap.
The training syllabus is based on previous experiences and needs identified by the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF), the University Rovira Virgili (URV) and the Agency for Management of University and Research Grants AGAUR, funding agency.

General training goals
1. Training to identify funding opportunities and to provide support in the preparation and management of HEU proposals, going through the different stages of its life cycle from the conception of the project idea to its closure, including its impact.
2. Promoting the learning of skills to carry out effective research management work by sharing experiences on the main transversal aspects identified as important for the implementation of ERA policies and the Horizon Europe program.
Target audience
Pre-award and post-award junior RMA officers, providing support in R+I European projects at public or private organizations in the region of Catalonia (recommended to staff with up to 2 years of professional experience).
Methodology
- On-site training to promote networking of participants and face-to-face interaction. Modules are implemented in Barcelona and Tarragona. The schedule is designed to allow train day trips among main regional cities.
- Flexibility: participants can subscribe to the full program (77 hours) or to specific modules (11 hours per module) according to their needs and agendas.
- Small groups of 25 students per module to promote teacher-student and student-student interaction.
- Learning methods: lectures, hands-on learning, discussions & simulations.

Learning outcomes
To share best practices in the design for the implementation of training on management of R&I projects tailored to personal needs.
To illustrate a training plan which allows critical knowledge and guidance for RMAs to increase the quality of EU R&I projects, based on experience.
