Call for abstracts opens August 18 2022

The European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) is delighted to announce the date of the opening of the call for abstracts for the EARMA Conference Prague 2023.

The abstract submission system will open August 18, 2022, via the EARMA website and we would encourage all our community to get involved. The theme for the next EARMA conference is:

Widening and Deepening of the RMA Profession

The EARMA Conference Prague 2023 will take place at the Prague Congress Centre, Prague, Czechia, April 24-26, 2023. This gathering follows our most successful conference ever in Oslo during May 2022. We also received the highest number of abstracts during the Oslo call and we aim to beat this record again.

The deadline for submissions is September 16, 2022, and the guide with details on the submission and evaluation criteria will be published together with the call. The preliminary programme will be available in December 2022 with early bird registration opening at that time. You do not have to be an EARMA member to make a submission, however you will need to login to the abstract submission system and create a profile to complete your submission.

The Annual Conference Programme Committee (ACPC) is inviting submissions for oral and poster contributions for inclusion in the conference programme. The topics include EARMA and professional associations; Impact; International; Leadership; Open Science, Responsible Research & Innovation; Organising Support Services & Team Building; Policy, Strategy, Evaluation and Foresight; Professional Development and Recognition; Proposal Development; Project Management; and Research information systems (CRIS).

Maria Maunula, Chair of the EARMA Annual Conference Programme Committee (ACPC), said: “This year’s theme speaks to the changing landscape of research management in Europe. It covers both geographic widening as well as professional widening and the concept of deepening relates to the professional development of RMAs. EARMA recently joined forces with the formerly COST funded BESTPRAC network and the Association is striving to build an inclusive community across Europe by also ensuring representation of RMA professionals in countries with emerging research and innovation systems.”

“The ACPC welcomes submissions on any aspect of research management and administration but we are particularly keen to receive submissions involving presenters from multiple organisations or countries and from widening countries. Do you have a case study, a practical initiative, 'lessons learned' in busy research performing organisations to share? If so, get involved. We are welcoming submissions covering the project lifespan and beyond, particularly presentations and posters covering new areas and abstracts by first-time participants. Subjects outside of the usual areas of RMA work and leadership abstracts are also requested by both the board and the ACPC.”

Travel grants will be made available to support some speakers to attend, according to their circumstances. The call to apply for these awards will be sent to all selected presenters.

We are also collaborating with the Journal of Research Management and Administration (JoRMA) to bring some of your quality content to a larger RMA audience. For more details on the JoRMA journal visit here.

The call for external evaluators regarding the EARMA Conference Prague 2023 abstract submissions will open later in August 2022.
