The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Research Projects Management Technician. This position will be funded by NEXT-ICIQ project GPE2022-00953 (until December 2024), funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033.

ICIQ is one of the world’s internationally recognized leading institutions in the field of chemistry committed to solving major social and economic challenges by conducting top quality research in three main areas: Sustainable Catalysis, Renewable Energy and Health. The Research Project Manager technician will work at the Research Projects and International Collaborations Unit, supporting the preparation of European competitive projects.

The Research Projects and International Collaborations Unit helps researchers at ICIQ identify interesting calls, prepare the applications and manage competitive projects awarded by international and national research agencies and foundations.

Responsibilities

Funding: Identify new funding opportunities for the research lines at ICIQ
Project preparation: Support the definition of research projects, especially those with a more innovative character in a coordinated effort with the knowledge and technology transfer and industrial projects department. Main tasks include: advising on project partners, preparation of budget, support on proposal writing and submission.
Liaising between research group leaders and other ICIQ support areas for the daily running of the projects
Project Coordination: Monitor the progress of work, anticipate possible problems and maintain excellent communication with the Principal Investigator and with the Project Officer or equivalent from funding agencies. Organize and participate in consortium meetings, teleconferences, reviews and other events. Prepare and submit high-quality periodic reports on time (collect and review consortium information).
Science policy: Analysis and participation in the definition of roadmaps and strategic agendas
Others: Collaborate to improve the operation of the different units involved in the research projects implementation by sharing best practices


Requirements

University Degree (Chemistry related degrees might be an advantage).
Research experience or PhD
Excellent communication (both oral and written) and networking skills
Advanced level of English, Spanish and Catalan (written and spoken) is required.
Team work skills
Proactive and enthusiastic personality
Used to working under pressure with strict deadlines
Availability to travel within Europe
Awareness of knowledge and technology transfer processes
Valued qualities:

Previous experience and training in research project management and knowledge of European research funding
Experience/knowledge on science policy
Good knowledge of CERCA centres and the Catalan and Spanish research system
We offer:

A permanent full-time contract.
Annual salary split into 12 monthly payments.
Remuneration according to the candidate’s qualifications/experience
Incorporation: Immediately
* Structural position resulting from the ordinary reposition quota for 2024.

Selection Process

ICIQ’s selection process usually entails the following phases:

Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected on the candidates’ CVs. This phase is merit-based.
Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee.
Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is selected, the People Unit will extend a Job Offer, specifying the start day, salary and overall job conditions.
